win 8.1 crash on loading

Don't know if this is a win. 8.1 problem but I have Sh III patch 1.4b
GWX Gold and SH Commander. 19 out of twenty times I get a crash upon loading the load bar goes to about 90% across and then it crashes can some point me in the right direction on this I am about ready to give up on the game. I had the game running in win 7 with very few crash problem Unfortuneatly my box died and had no choice but to go with win 8.1 Can some one please direct me here. The install was done by me and another seasoned SH III player. the game and files were installer in their own folder
on the hard drive. Problem takes place in all loading situations

Have you added the updated .cfg files which SH3C needs to run with GWX3?

If you have, then I suspect a corrupt install. Uninstall, everything, eemove any residual files, use a good registry cleaner, then re-install. Shouln't take an hour, total.

Hi johnlax,

I've got the same problems with Win 8.1. So go to the sh3.exe, right-click, move to properties and click it, select compatibility, acivate compatibility mode and choose Windows 7. That will solve your problem.
