Florida man kills his daughter and her six children

Quote:
A grandfather shot dead his daughter and her six children before taking his own life at a home in Bell, Florida, police have said.
Quote:
The children range in age from 3 months to 10 years old, said Gilchrist County Sheriff Robert Schultz.
The authorities have identified the gunman as Don Charles Spirit, 51.
Police have said they received a call from Spirit making threats to his family and himself before he committed suicide.
"I haven't seen anything like this at all," said Schultz.

What kind of madness.

Apparently he found a way to circumvent that.

Possession of some of God's flora should not be a crime.
As for the patricide, well, even God wrote a law on that one and now the old boy will be judged on it. I'm sure he'll find that prison was much cooler.

Yeah but didn't his criminal history also include burglary, grand theft, battery and domestic violence?
I dunno. You only saw fit to mention that he was jailed for marijuana possession. If his history included those charges, I have to wonder why he was still free to commit six counts of murder in the first degree.
The mind boggles at the stupidity of the legal system.

Just because it's against the law for an ex-con to buy or own a firearm, doesn't mean they can't get their hands on one. A private seller is not required to run a background check or invoke the obligatory three day waiting period.

Maybe if they had let the guy get stoned, he might not have had the motivation to kill his family. Which happens more often than not when alcohol is involved.

Just more gene pool cleaning I suppose. Something that the northern part of Florida is in sore need of.

Only just the northern part, you're too generous.

[QUOTE=Tribesman;2244643]yeah, maybe there should be some sort of regulation to try andhelp prevent that...QUOTE]

Regulation? Not a bad word; it's even in the Constitution, in that 2nd Amendment thing. Actually, the Founding Fathers seemingly found it necessary to make the word "well-regulated". Odd, of all the rights listed in the Bill Of Rights, this is the only Amendment in which any reference of 'regulation', "well-" or otherwise is mentioned. Maybe they didn't feel comfortable with the idea of an unbridled right in regards to this issue...

Actually the concept of "well-regulated" was that every able-bodied male would have a long gun, would drill with it regularly within the militia context, and be available to take his place in the front lines if necessary. That said, all rights were considered to belong to the people, and none to the government.

The first link in the article, 'Well-Regulated', leads to a good examination of that phrase and its meanings.

Knowing how to safely and accurately operate a firearm is the most basic of soldierly skills.

Meanwhile at the Racetrac in south Florida a beggar felt it was appropriate to, if not given change, mention this story to people as if he was "sort of" telling them that's what might happen if someone doesn't give up some change. "Somebody" reported his @ss to the Racetrac hope they called the cops on him.
