Default Torpedo timer general question

Hello all skippers. Does anyone with our knowledgeable captains happen to know how this stopwatch happen to work? My best guess is the red scale gives artillery range based on the difference between the impacts flash and sound. The outer scale*the seconds always gives 720. Ive seen this scale on Junghans torpedo timers too, and its given as a Kriegsmarine stopwatch. Maybe I will make it a workable mod out of it, if we can figure it out. Thanks if you share an idea.

Thanks for the responses. As I figured it out the inner red scale is the Telemeter with the km marking on it, since speed of sound is approx 300 meter/second and the 1 km mark is at 3 seconds, so thatone fits, the outer black scale is some kind of Tachymeter, certainly not an U-Jagd, because 200 meter in 60 sec is neither 12 knots nor 12 meters per seconds. My best guess is it is either used for some artillery function which I dont have a clue about, or as far as it is marketed as a torpedo timer it maybe somehow measuring the runtime of the fish.

Ok Im officially a fool, the outer scale is km/h, never thought they would use it on a naval timepiece.
