How to pause the game?

Ok stupid question. I cant pause. I've tried the button. I've tried reducing the speed of the time compression from 1 to 0 and no joy. What did I mess up to make it so I cant pause?

Im working on a bit of a navigation and intercept tutorial but without being able to pause its really hard to do that while also playing.

Is that the key to do it? Ok kool I thought I could move TC back to 0 from 1 I didn't know there was a backspace function for that. I have the mega mod installed forgot to mention that but I'll try it.

just hit the "esc" key on your keyboard to automatic pause the game, then hit resume when you are ready

Well as part of the tutorial I am drafting measurements on the map to show how its done so being able to interact is part of what I need access too only for time to stop lol.

Esc will pause but out into options view

Backspace pauses game as-is view
