Default This might seem odd....

After cruising around a bit at night and recognizing Orion in the night sky, I started wondering....

Can you navigate in SH4 by the stars.... I'm a noob and I don't know how to in either hemisphere... (yet) but I am betting others might have tried this and I am curious to know the results.

Has anyone tried to navigate by the stars in game, and how effective was it?

Thank you in advance!

You can't do it within the game as it is, but some have done it using outside programs/charts and such.

You might want to look at this thread:

Some have done it successfully just for the heck of it. If you know how, and have all the correct charts, etc., you can navigate from the in game stars.

I know of no way to use stars in game, cause they're not correct and you don't have any tools. You can you the program listed to do it, but it takes time. It's really not a mod as much as it is an outside program. The small mod part of it just removes your sub icon so you don't know where you are on the map in real time. It is very fun and time consuming. When I first tried it I got lost a lot and ran into land a lot using TC.

I enjoy this method as well. And when I need to use the Ctrl + left click on the mouse to locate my boat.

As I recall your sub icon still shows up a tad when using high TC. I chose not to look. Also best to set your land close default to go to 1 {real time} I think default is 8

Or maybe not an outside program, as much as a way of life.

In any case, it's not for the faint of heart.
