ANZAC Day

Today marks the 99th anniversary of the ANZAC landings at Gallipoli in 1915.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Lest we forget.

Went to the ANZAC dawn ceremony with my grand parents, very moving as both grandad and I have served. Then to the RSA for a free hot breakfast and a couple of cold beers also free

I was just thinking about Gallipoli and for all the human suffering it did have one benefit.It gave a sense of national identity for Australia,New Zealand, and Turkey interestingly enough all three where the "lessor" of a larger nation at the time. A silver lining to every cloud.
