Default Why are the Subsim community so much nicer than the SAS1946 community?

I asked the question on SAS1946 forums 'Are there any female members?' to which I got mostly angry, nonsensical replies. When I asked the same question here I got nothing but positive and humorous replies. They all seem so uptight. Shouldn't we be the uptight ones haha...

Not for me to comment on other forum communities but here at SubSim there is an air of understanding accompanied by friendship of what a community should be like....and that is down to each and every member here in one form or other.

Being a member of both forums I'd say that both communities have their good and bad. The difference here is the moderation and the owner of the site making it clear to all comers what the rules ar and being pretty consistent in applying them .

With that question I actually had a moderator apologise for the "village idiot's" response in a pm. I just find it a really hostile place in general compared to this place. Maybe submariners are nicer people than pilots? No offense intended to anyone. I love IL-2 as much as SH! The two online communities are so different!

The difference here is that the moderators won't just pm their comments here. They'll pull asshats into line and everyone else can see it happen. I will say there are also non mods who will also pull up asshattery and let the ducks know there place.

Pilots are a bunch of primadonas

Submariners are a team of experts in a coffin. They have to work together to survive.

But what do I know. I'm not a submariner. I'm here for the gardening tips.

And one more thing, one of the females on subsim is the owners daughter and I'm not telling which one

Only one?

You sure about that?

That's easy, it's Neal. He's the only site owner.

Now, as for daughters...

You see, we may be slightly better behaved (controlled - Stepford Member ), but threads still get derailed quicker than Jim can say why-aye, pet.

I live in a giant bucket.

Edit: We derail troll threads rather quickly, too. With recipes! Speaking from my own experience here, Subsim is friendly and respectful to begin with.

Pilots tend to be more aggressive. Even the virtual variety.

As virtual submariners we here are a more patient lot. A requirement for low and slow combat. We tend to be drunk all the time too.

The brig here has urine and vomit stains on the bunks. So nobody wants to pay it a visit.

And then there's that whole keelhauling thing that Neal has to do from time to time. I think it's good for morale.
