Default Periscope Detection Problem

Hi,

I have a problem were, as soon as I raise my periscope, or at stupid long distances, I'm always reported through radio.

Often I can't still distinguish if what I have in front is a small fishing boat, or the Titanic, and they can spot my periscope. Have had this happen also at a pitch black night, with strong seas, storm and rain, where I still can't see the target ship, and I'm reported.

I read in the SH4 forum that it might be mod order related. Is there a known issue about this, and a possible way to solve it? Maybe a mod or combination, that is known to cause this?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think it's a mod-issue here.
These sightings of your own sub are probably generated by OHII (?)...and are purely "cosmetic", i.e. make the environment seem more interactive, sortof.
So you're not really sighted at all.

To disable these radio-messages, simply turn-off Sub-sighted messages in your radio-options.

Thank you Paajtor,

If this is true, then they are making me crazy. This happened in the first patrol. I spotted a polish ship, raced to intercept, and dived. Intercepted the message as soon as I raised the periscope, but the ship did actually not start any evasion maneuvers. Before I was in firing range, my sound officer reported two polish warships approaching at full speed. Fired my torpedoes as soon as I was in range and dived deep.

The warships arrived at the area and slowed down, although they were not able to find me. It really looked like they came in answer to the merchants call, although it might have been just bad luck.

Anyway, will try to disable the sub sighted messages in the radio.

Thanks again!

Actually, I did attack them.

I waited until I was sure they hadn't spotted me. Through the bearing update and constant distance reports, I waited until the cruised through my bow at medium range, went to periscope depth, and fired 4 torpedoes into the second ship. I dived right away and waited.

I managed to miss all 4 torpedoes , or he spotted them and evaded, and then they both raced towards my position.

Now I'm hiding again, and boy are those ships fast when they are pissed!

I hope now that my batteries hold and they give up, or that friendlies show up. No snorkel, too soon into the war...

Sober, I'm using your list with some modifications, and I have to say that this has been up to now my best first patrol ever. I'm really enjoying it! Thanks!

this and many other items are being revamped in my UIs mod. I'm adding a bunch of new commands to the game to make the radio messages and other items much more realistic
