How smart is the enemy AI aircraft?

A few questions here.

-If you are spotted, what is the next step? Does the AI radio other planes, ships, to your location? Do they not bother?

-It seems like I get attacked about %20 of the time when aircraft are spotted. If they don't attack does this mean they aren't carrying any ammo or are empty?

Basically, I want to know how much "Smarts" have been programmed into the aircraft AI. I do have a few mods going as well, if that could be a factor. It's 1939 btw.

Download IRAI mod then I am sure you really want to dive quickly when enemy Aircraft is showing up.

Get the Leigh Light mod as well so they can track you by RADAR at night from 1941 on and then explode on you with the Leigh Light from about 500 yards out of the dark!! You've got about 5 seconds notice before you get strafed or bombed - so it makes you think twice about recharging the batteries at night in the Bay of Biscay!
