FX?

Guys,

I'm going to seem cybernetically challenged here, but I am to a certain extent. All these months now I've been playing with Silent Hunter I haven't paid much attention to some things in it. Can someone give me an idea of what FX Controls (Under Options in the main menu) are and what they do in Silent Hunter? I have googled this and also searched the postings here on the Forum and have come up zip. Clueless.
