Default JSGME

Afternoon all

I would like to use JSGME without GXW.
If I download the enabler can i use it as a stand alone and if so where do I place the mod folder for it to "find" the mods and back up originals etc ?

Thanks in advance

John

Default Hi

JGSME is a mod enabler, not a mod itself.

You can use any mod without it, but it assists you to install and manage mods.

For instance, you can use GWX alone, which is a mod. Any mod can be used without the enabler. The problem is that mods are all playing with the same game files and can overwrite each other, causing serious problems.

JGSME warns you when installing any mod if it has conflicts with those already installed. You can then choose to go ahead or not install the new mod.

When you start JSGME for the first time, it will ask you to create the "Mods" folder in SH3 through the program itself. If that already exists, I guess it will just use that.

Included in the zipped package JSGME.7z is the file JSGMEHelp.txt. It is written in clear concise English and provides detailed step-by-step instructions for installing JSGME. The directions make no reference to GWX, inasmuch as JSGME is a stand-alone program. (The word Generic in the name JonesSoft Generic Mod Enabler is because JSGME is not intended for SH3, but for a wide variety of programs which use a similar architecture, including SH3, SH4, and SH5, and many others as well.) The JSGMEHelp.txt file also provides detailed instructions for the use of the program. JSGME includes a number of very useful functions which are described in JSGMEHelp.txt but not discussed widely in this forum. It is well worth the time to read this document and familiarize yourself with all the ways JSGME can assist you.
