Default offline recognition manual?

Has anyone created an offline recognition manual for SH4 that at least contains the stock ships? I know the game's PDF manual has pictures of Japanese and American ships, but i was looking for something more in the format of the in-game manual. Something I can use whether i'm actually playing or in "hurry up and wait" mode at work...

Thanks

TG

Default 1943 Recognition Manual

A long time ago someone here (frau Kaleun?) scanned and uploaded the 1943 Recognition Manual.
Can't find the original post or link, but I've packed the 269 pages and uploaded them here (128 MB):
http://www.mediafire.com/?d4tysalbf4zmnsa

Each page is a jpeg file, so the Windows PhotoViewer is handy for browsing through them.

Sample - would like to see that one "live" some day...

Hope it's okay with original uploader to repost the files...

Someone has postes a printable version of the recognition manual but I do not remember who. I am sure you can find it on this forum if you dig deep enough. Original manuals are available and there is someone publishing reprints on the web. I put together a summary sheet of the merchant and naval vessels with the average mast heights of each type of target. If I can figure out how to post I will post them. Joe S

I've found two Recognition Manuals made by Centred75 burried in my backups...

Imperial Navy Ship Recognition Manual
Captain's Quick Reference

Uploaded both his pdfs packed together here (4.5 MB): http://www.mediafire.com/?h7vanhdtjfg91ih

And the UbiSoft Silent Hunter 4 Manual (5.6 MB): http://www.mediafire.com/?0wc1stt90tvwcux

/Edit:
Been playing with Word 2007 and the jpeg files of the above "1943 Recognition Manual"...
Saved the collection into a single pdf file. Much more handy and much smaller ~28 MB: http://www.mediafire.com/?7iu0if1as9grnnd

Hi, I was wondering if anyone still had these, or other, files that were hosted somewhere?

Not that I know of.

I think the reason offline/printable RM's tend to drop out of circulation is that people often add ships or change them in their mods/game, and any such RM's will no longer be current.

Ah that makes sense. I really wish I had one for my laptop while I am playing on my desktop for the TMO mod. Would just be handy while I am trying to do things without pausing the game.

Thank you.

I don't use any recognition manual except the one the mod comes with.

The idea is a good one. I was going to make my own printed version at one point, but I wanted to add ship lengths, and some other stuff, and didn't have that information around........ Well, I never got around to it.

To be really useful, it has to be comprehensive and accurate.

I haven't either. However, I wouldn't mind having one.

Another problem is that there are no ship lengths in the one in game. I am running TMO and it has draft and height but no length!

I think this would be a great idea for the immersion factor! I made a replica ISWAS that was available on this site, and still use it. Comes in very handy to help determine enemy course/AOB, especially before radar is installed. To have a RM that you could hold in hand, would not only be more immersive, but a heck of a lot easier than clicking on a tab to turn a page.

Lessening the amount of clicking it takes to go through the in-game recognition manual is also a positive point.

Yeah, I'd like a printed recognition manual also, I'm even considering dropping £20 or so on a used copy of the SH IV collectors edition just to get the printed recognition manual.

Would be great if someone could provide an up to date link for one I can print myself.
