Default Axed helicopter deal 'damages' firm

Bribery and corruption over helicopter sales to India?....NEVER!!

Quote:
Workers at AgustaWestland's helicopter factory in Somerset are "deeply hurt" after the Indian government cancelled a $753m (£455m) contract, a union says.

The Indian government stopped payments in February following allegations that bribes of almost $67.6m (£41m) were paid to secure the contracts.

What next?

Perhaps they'll ask us to stop our aid payments a year early....right

I think the US and the UK are both getting the shaft right now from our financial institutions and governments.

My mom lives outside of Warrington with my step-dad, and he says the way the British gov't handles foreign aid is appalling.

Aid payments abroad are a big bone of contention here espicially in these times of austerity.

The Chancellors budget last year had only one area of growth in real terms and that was forign aid.

India can afford a £1 billion space programme and have recently sent a rocket to Mars.......and we provide aid

What is it with you English and your infatuation with India? I've never understood this.

I just recently read a book on General Townshend's Mesopotamia campaign in WW1 against the Ottomans. It seemed like the same sort of deal. Originally they just wanted Basra and Abadan for the oil refinery, but mission creep and early successes lead to it being a massive desert operation in the Tigris river valley. This ultimately lead to Townshend's siege and capitulation at Kut, something that could have been totally avoided had the British parliament not seen Mesopotamia as another chunk of land to be claimed for the empire.

Then came the billions in foreign aid when the nation became Iraq, and then the Iraqi's rebelled and won their independence sometime in the 1950's, and the British parliament still had them on the meal ticket for foreign aid!

Neither of our leaders have any intelligence, or do they? But for malicious purposes? I guess we shall never know.

If there is any justice in the world it shouldn't be long before countries from the former empire start giving the UK aid

Well, rightfully so! I honestly think we've been infiltrated and are being taken apart from the inside, piecemeal, in every aspect of our lives and society.

We shall have the victory in the end though, so don't get too bent up about it. After all, England nor the United States has ever been conquered, so I think we just need to have a little faith and a little patience. Things will come about.
