Default Best graphical mods for SH4 US boats

As the title says, I'm after a mod soup for my copy of SH4 v1.5. I have U-Boat Missions, but I want to get back to the Pacific and commanding a Gato in that huge expanse of water. I've not played US boats for a looooong time and my mod knowledge is very limited.

So...

I'd just like a list of best mods for playing the US war (and preferably the JSGME load order)

I've already decided I'm going to use RSRD_SH15_V550 plus patch 1, so after that I'm primarily after graphical goodness. Hi res subs, interiors and environment mods.

After that any decent game additions and add ons would be great. BUT, I'm not a hardcore subsimmer, I have manual targeting switched off (I know, one day I'll learn, but I want to enjoy a campaign, not learn all the time, that's what SH5 and DarkWraith's NewTDUs are for).

So, I know this has been asked before, but I can't find a detailed and up-to date thread that just covers the US war mods.

Cheeers

Really? 75 looks and no replies.

OK, How about anyone who plays the US Pacific war in SH4 just post up their working mod order for me please?

I'm trying to use RSRD, plus GFO and Real Environment and some hi-def reskins and other purely graphical updates. I've read the install instructions with each and think I have the right order but I'm getting crashes to desktop at all kinds of weird times.

Cheers, here's hoping someone can help.

I'm currently running RFB 2.0 with the RSRD patch for RFB. I believe these mega-mods incorporate a lot of the most popular graphic mods from when they were made. The game already looks a lot better than stock when they are installed. The same is true of TMO. I've yet to try Real Environment .
Welcome to the big, blue Pacific. Watch out for Yamamoto and company.

Well, you could have four pages of people saying "Sorry, I don't know." I read every thread on the boards several times a day, and if I don't have anything to say, I don't say it.

[edit] By the way, I love your avatar.

True 'nuff Sailor Steve... I just thought I'd have got a couple of mod lists is all. My bad (God I hate that phrase).

OK, so I'll start off small and add and then see what goes on.

The avatar is very old... I try and use it in any and every forum I belong to as I like it too, and it helps people and me to recognise my participation in wherever I am.

Cheers

TMO makes many enhancements to both the graphical and tactical aspects of the game.

GFO corrects only game play aspects but it also improves graphics to some extent.

I have tried both of these super mods and they each have their advantages as well as disadvantages. Most super mods also address short comings in the sounds used by the game.

RFB as I understand it deals pretty much exclusively with the graphical aspects and focuses on the US Subs.

My advice would be to load some of the various offerings available and take them out for a test drive. It could be quicker than waiting for an answer here- or do a deep review of the threads in this forum as you are not the first to ask the same question and it has been answered before.

Cheers Joe.

I've had SH4 since it came out but stopped playing it a good 3 or 4 years ago. I had loads of decent working mods then, but they've either all disappeared or been updated so much that I can't recognise them any more.

I've been having a lot of unexplained crashes to desktop, either when starting a game, or a good hour after starting the game. It's been pretty inconsistent.

Anyway, I'm now on my fifth SH4 total reinstall. I'm only going to try out GFO with RSRD and Real Env... This is because according to the GFO thread they will run together.

After that I quite fancy the idea of RFB. I was always put of TMO all those years ago as it seemed it was primarily made for those skippers who used manual targeting.

I'll see how far I get in this time... Wait and see.
