Some decades ago an overly gifted child took the small radio active units from gazillions of used or disposed-of smoke detectors to create his own superfund cleanup nuclear critical mass pile...I believe the article was in Readers' Digest... idleminds oft go KABLOOEY! 1994 Young David Hahn of Michigan, using added ingredients from tritium clock faces, smoke detector Ameicium and cooked lithium batteries to make thorium ash-all in a lead pipe- didn't quite get to critical mass before being interrupted by local police.
