Default Deep Bluewolf??

On July 4, 1942 at 00:00 USS Grenadier, Lt. Cmdr. Torpedobait commanding, detected an inbound aircraft approximately 520 nm NW of Midway Island. WIth contacts on to better simulate a real crew with plotting capabilities, the target was identified as "Deep Bluewolf", travelling very fast, in a NW direction. The target passed behind Grenadier and disappeared to the NW at aircraft speed.

Has anyone else encountered this object? Any ideas on the significance of the aircraft identity? I'm stumped!

He was a beloved member at Ubisoft when the game came out that had great influence on several people. He was also a military pilot. His lone plane was added to traffic to honor his memory after he was killed in an accident. His traffic pattern is basically around Pearl and Midway. I think Ducimas put him in the game and later added by Lurker in RSRD or vice versa. There was another member named Leovampire that passed away that had a lot of influence, I believe Ducimas added his pictures in a few of the subs in TMO.

Armistead, thank you for the explanation. Now I feel fortunate for having encountered him on his long mission. I regret not having the opportunity to add my condolences back when it might have been meaningful to his family and friends. I hope he flies in peace into that great blue sky.

Plane that looked like a P38 Lighting right?

The plane was an import from SH3. I don't remember If i imported it and got it working, or someone else did; but I specifically remember using a cloned plane, and setting it on a circular route flying at a low altitude, in a location where one might encounter it on their way to their patrol area. Yeah, that was my tribute to Deep Blue Wolf.

There was a second tribute that I think got lost in the shuffle of interior overhauls, and that was to LeoVampire if memory serves correctly. It was a real life picture of him, photoshopped with a naval uniform. I remember placing it where it appeared above the rear "desks" in the control room. It wasn't up in your face, but if you looked, you'd see it. That was the only photo's i had added of anyone. Again, I think it got lost in the shuffle and probably doesn't appear now. I had completely forgotten this had happened until way later, and by that time it was too late to correct it.

Armistead, thank you for posting the link on the UBI forum. I went through it. A lot of names I haven't seen in a while. A lot of names that I see here. I can honestly say we're not just forum friends, we have grown to a family.

A great sentiment, ff. Couldn't agree more.
