Default Civil War Fans TV shows coming

I look forward to " Grant vs Lee -To Appomattox" on HBO. Interesting actors, but what a great cast, can't wait to see Lang as Lincoln.

Looks like they have good matches for the most part.

William Petersen looks too well fed and content to be Sherman, though.

I hope it is portrayed from both sides of the conflict.

The subject still evokes heated discussion even today.

If going by each mans motives, it is not so much political. They were both soldiers and gentlemen, with great respect for each other.

I would like to see the Unions early losses potrayed as well.
Considering the Army of the Potamac went through a few commanders before it found Grant, his victory at Vicksburg, as a minor general cemented a reputation for him. McClellan was an absolute disaster.

But I would like to see both sides qualms represented, and left to the viewer to decide morally.

It was a sad dark time in our history, even 150 years later, it still starts arguments over who was right. It should be done right, with no skew.

Well, I didn't think it would ever get done, released or what and sometimes still wonder, but all the talk is it's a done deal. I still can't get a good fix on the release date.

Hopefully it will be historically correct, has some great historians and producers. I think they were addressing for once the many overweight reenactors Tis strange seeing all the well fed fat CSA soldiers marching into battle, when they were starved and bone thin.

We'll see what the future holds.

Wow! Half the cast of Tombstone! Half the cast of Justified! Stephen Lang has played Pickett, Jackson and Ike Clanton, and now he's doing Lincoln? That should be interesting, to say the least. The man's a chameleon!

I don't reenact anymore, but in Gettysburg you didn't see too many fatties. My old groups is still big in it, but I swear most of em couldn't walk across the field. Heck, we use to march from camp to the sites, just a few miles, today they have buses or tractor pulled wagons.

If you ever go to big reenactments, you'll notice the big ones die fast so they can lay down.

I simply want something that tells it like it is, and does not cause division.

Niether side was right, niether side was wrong.

But 600k died in 4 years, millions suffered.

I want past it as a country. North (union) on paper won. But technically, no one won.
Just would love to see both sides represented, as both sides had valid gripes.

That is an impressive cast!

Hopefully, it will be fair and not another glorification of the tyrant Lincoln.

Did someone say waffle house?

On a serious note, I wonder if they are going to potray all of General Jackson's personal quirks?

Another question, Will Ted Turner be allowed on the set?

Neither side was right? I must disagree lol. Slavery was wrong but it was on it's way out anyways, would have disappeared early in the next century but the radicals in the north did not like the south telling them to go f themselves, so they used the "moral" argument as justification.Lincoln launched a war that killed 800,000 people, left millions more scarred for life emotionally and physically as well as generations of untold misery in the south. Many of the problems the south still suffers can be traced back to that war. Besides the war, Lincoln abused his own citizens in the north by suspending habeas corpus etc

What the civil war boils down to was the federal government trying to tell one part of the country how they were going to live and the good people of the south stood up and fought.Unfortunately, they lost and we are still subjects of D.C.

This is not the place for another Civil War argument. Leave your agendas at home please.

If you must, post it in one of the three Civil War threads we already have.
