Default New mod for more realistic subs???

Hi, can anyone make a mod that will allowed the user to be to periscope depth at any speed (without destroying the antennas), like the real subs do?!

Thanks

How do super strong unbreakable antennas make a sub realistic? Where's the proof that real subs can extend their antennas at high speed?

With DWEdit you can change the max Speed parameter of sensors. (it seems it is default 0) So for playables it is likely hardcoded. And changing executable code is not allowed according to the EULA.

So you can try it yourself. DWEdit can be downloaded here from Subsim Download section.

I was under the impression that subs do not normally move at high speed near the surface (because of cavitation). What would be the advantage this? Just come near the surface to do a quick EW search if needed but other than that you have a highly capable sonar that you can use in the deep while remaining undetected.

Thanks Pisces for your help!

And yes! The truth abilities of the subs are always top secret. Let me tell you the subs can go faster and deeper from the official announcements...

...also have been recorded a US sub at speed of 35Knots at periscope depth with the periscope fully extended....

why would a sub do this???
The wake from the periscope would probably look like a speedboat!!!

Extended, maybe, useful, I am afraid not. There will be WAYYYYY to much vibration to be a viable sensor for visual uses.

Will the periscope be bent, unable to be re-stowed to the down position, surely.

Noisy? Very much so. Just the boat being that shallow at that kind of speed will me making noise like crazy due to cavitation.

The periscope tube itself will be like a tuning fork and vibrating as it passes through the water.

Sooo.. don't believe everything you read.

It is also well known to this forum that the boats have operating capabilities that are beyond the released number.
