Default Meet the Mastiffs

My wife has a total of 8 Tibetan Mastiffs at the kennel. Most are rescue dogs, owners got way more than they bargained for, one is old, few hers and another lady at the kennel. Course, only a few can get in their home space, as they don't tolerate strangers in their home space. They have actually ate or pulled down their gates. Away from their space, most do OK with people once they get to know you.

I can't go back to their cages yet, but get along with them outside their kennel. Pics of 4.

This is Wu, the pack leader. Dumb owner had him with a pit bull which he killed. I'm still a lil wary around him.

This is Zoey, old, usually in a lion coat, but shaved down.

This is Zack, the wild one.

Cliffhanger, sweetheart.

Lucky you. I can't have a dog, but I love them. When I visit someone with a friendly dog I alway show them special attention.

For the most part Tibs are sweet dogs....to their owners. They don't do well with strangers in their home. If you walked in ones home space not
knowing it, it would probably eat you, but if it walks in your home space, it probably won't give you a problem.

I feel sorry for these. Tibs are expensive dogs, but often people can't deal with them. As sweet as these are, in full coat and angry, they're scary dogs. They have a strong bite, I've seen them pull iron gates off the hinges. For the most part they live in their cages, although she will try to find them homes. They do get out about 2 hours a day, but I'm trying to get to know them so I can add more time to that. Course, they can go inside or outside in their pens.

Hopefully we will find them homes, but seems shes adding more than getting rid of. They take a lot of work and food, not good for business, but the other option is to put them down.

If they get out of hand, I'll take bear killer below to teach em a lesson.

Great dogs and most noble of your wife...my respects to her

We lost our family pet (Lhasa Apso) of 15 1/2 years in March and still haven't got over it. The wife wants another but I've said we'll only have a rescue dog if that happens.

I recall your loss, it can take time.

There's a rescue dog waiting just for you!

What breed are you looking for?

Here is Zoey from this past year, getting cold, so thicker coat, but not full. Sometimes my wife will do a lion cut on her, looks awesome from a distance. Once walking her in the park, someone called the police, thought she was a lion.

Well it happened yesterday lunchtime...the wife and daughter (aided by my boy on the phone) pinned me down in the man cave and watched over my shoulder whilst I searched a common site for Lhasas.

Found a seven week old litter of five in Bridlington (250 mile round trip) so off we went at 4pm and returned at 10pm with a dog (Louie).

The wife has spent most of her time since then following him around the house with newspaper, kitchen wipes, a mop and a bucket of disinfectant

I'll put some pictures up in a new thread in an hour or two.
