I don't think anything other than routine ferry traffic has flown out of Groom Lake for a looong time. Nice to see that it finally exists officially now though.

Sure, it started out as the test facility for the U-2 but, has continued to grow long after the plane was retired from service. Skunkworks for Stealth planes etc, etc. Whether or not they are reverse engineering an alien craft there is still high speculation and a question that may never see an answer.

Woah, wait a minute; didn't the U.S. government or Air Force already acknowledge the existence of Area 51 back in the late 90s or early 21st century? I thought this was old news.

The plane though highly modified is still in service.

I stand corrected. It's only natural though. After all the money they poured into its development and initial deployment and the Groom Lake facility where it was tested. High five for the designers and builders of the day. Nothing is built to last this long anymore. Plus it took a near space shot to bring one down.

Not an easy feat in and of itself. Props to the Soviets on their aim.
