In a Danish talk show I heard earlier today that many people are enslaved by their mobile phone
Many people especially young people do not get the sleep they need In addition, many are stressed by their cell phone when it rings or they receive a message / mail. They feel the urge to reply here up now Here's my life regarding my cell phone. When I go to sleep I put it in silence mode When I'm out for a few hours I let my cell phone stay at home. When in shower or whatever I do in my department and my cell phone ring I do my thing first then-If I remember it- I take a look to see who it was. Markus |

Somehow I kind of doubt it. I take my phone with me everywhere, just in case a friend wants to get hold of me. How often does it actually happen? Well, I'm on a "Pay As You Go" plan, which for most people would be a bad thing. It works for me because I never use it. I pay $15 per month for 200 minutes. They roll over. I currently have 1155 minutes waiting for me to find a reason to use them. My total call time so far for the month of June is 1:10. One minute and ten seconds in the past eighteen days.
No, I don't think I'm a slave to my phone. The computer, on the other hand...

Ah but Steve, when your phone is also your computer it gets messy.
Sure I'm typing this from my desktop but a good 70% of my news/chats/whatever comes through the cellphone. I have mine with me most of the time, except in work when it's off for hours on end. I get the odd strange voicemail from someone who's not used to calling a dead phone ![]()

I intentionally have a phone that doesn't do internet. When I go outside I don't want to be in touch with the rest of the world - just the part I can see and enjoy now.

I have a Jitterbug that stays in my car all the time. It waits for me, I don't wait for it.
![]() The Frau has one of them "smert fones". Well it was smart enough to delete all of her contacts and the wonderful cloud was unable to restore them. Hence she does not have my cell number on her cell phone. I must remedy that..... one of these days. ![]()

![]() I had a Samsung Flight II for the longest time. That was the best phone there ever was. The thing was indestructable. I lost it in the woods in February....found it two weeks later after it rained, snowed, and plunged to 23F. Changed the battery and it works. I still have the thing. I'm not currently using it though. The one I currently have is a piece o' crap. A Pantech Renue. I haven't had the thing 6 months and the screen is cracked and I think the battery is going out on me. ![]()

Total slave, but not by choice. I have to answer business calls. What I really hate though are those "supposed" google calls for your free listing. I get those all the friggin' time.

I got rid of my cellphone 10 years ago. I rarely miss it.

May cell phone is an electronic leash. I'm always to have and respond to any calls. In short, I'm never off from work. Yes, a call or incoming email message is unsettling. I have the urge to answer immediately. I have too. The cell is the scourge to my sanity and peace of mind. It is expected that I'm available 24/7. It has ruined many a planned outing. Personally, I hate the damn things. When I retire I will not carry a cell phone. If I'm not reachable there is a reason for it.

First you'll have to explain to me why I would ever want to do something like that. The last time we tried that they decided they were more in need of giving advice than getting it. They were probably right, but now I don' gots no job no mo'.

Already tried. The SIM in the new phone is the wrong size.
![]() The fact that you don't have a capital "N" suggests that this message was, indeed, typed from a cell phone... Is that correct Sir? ![]() ![]() Quote:
