Default Ramming Speed!!!

So I normally avoid tellling "So there I was" stories on here. Mostly because there are so many talented writers here my own end up seeming quite lacking. But I felt I needed to share this one.....

So there I was...in trusty U-63 (Type IIa) surface cruising around the Isles, Grid AM 35, late 1940. I'd had a few cautionary crash-dives due Swordfish activity throughout the morning. These culminated narrowly avoiding at least 1 destroyer called in. Finally, batteries just above 25%, I surface a few hours before sunset and start charging my batteries. Once more "Flugzeug gesichtet!" (sorry if my German is terrible).

With barely any batteries left to evade another curious destroyer being called in, I decide to stand and fight. As the plane begins its attack run, I roughly ID it as an Anson. I run up AK and order the Gunner to open fire. He aims well and scores enough hits to bring her down. Excellent!

While I'm admiring the pretty fireworks and watch as it starts down to its watery grave, I notice its going to impact close off my port beam. A beautiful sight it will be.

The plane impacts maybe 20 meters directly abeam the conning tower....SKIPS off the water like a stone and.........you guessed it! Crashed directly into me. Couldn't have been more perfect impact. Rolls the boat about 45 to starboard, flames and smoke everywhere.

The game counted it as negligible damage. My hull was left at 98% damage and no souls on board even scratched. Adding my own realism, I counted my self, 1WO, Watch Crew, and gunner as KIA. Full A/C impact to the bridge I see as a career-ending event.

New career and lessoned learned!!

My only regret is not having the presence of mind to start taking screenshots!

I admire the way you play the game! That's what it's all about!

I guess that's the way the old ball, or in this case, Anson bounces.

Great story Tupolev.

lol i've had this happen in SH 4 from a G4M, was a GQ trying to close a convoy in early war, SD radar did not pick up the contact until it was 8,000 yards offtwin 20 MM handled it nicely but it did the skip bounce right into me, actually killed everyone on the bright and put hull damage at 99, I counted it was all over as well.
