Default Mysterious Island - Map Issues

So im out on patrol finally in the atlantic...all torpedos and ammo expended from a sea to harbor battle... so i decide to head to the nearest port for refitting and repairs.

however i plot a course to the nearest port and head there, and according to my navigator i sailed directly into port...marked nicely on the map... however im just sitting in the middle of the atlantic where heligoland should of been but wasnt so i make sail for Wihelmshaven and place on time compression to only wind up slamming into an island that wasnt even marked on my map..

is there a map update that i should probably have or is this kinda run of the mill normal for this one particular place?

When using a plotted course or when traveling at fast sub speeds, it is always good to zoom in a little first. That way the smaller land masses are easier to see on any type of navigation map. Then return to course or change direction (where applicable), zoom out again and now use time compression to miss Heligoland this time!
