Hi Gotmilk, This would be the way to aim the development of a SH6. The simulation of SH5 or the Idea of SH5 was along these lines. We all know the unfortunate product that ubisoft released, whatever it is now was the result of a lot of hard work from a group of players who loved the game that much to MOD it and turn it into a playable game. My point; do we really want ubisoft to release another sub sim with this new, seemingly wonderful idea only to be left with their idea of a finished product. I love the idea of Silent Hunter with this Oculus Rift headset technology. I would not want to have to wait for a year for the game to actually play, something to that effect. I can't wait to own one though, I would love to play any game with it, especially a WWII Sub Sim!. D40 ![]()

There are actually a group of hackers who are writing drivers to get existing games work with rift. So far they got skyrim and mirrors edge working.

![]() i think we have seen the best we will ever see coming from ubisoft and anything they release from here on will be worse then anything you can imagine about how bad it could be. |

I do know one thing... I WANT ONE!
![]() I'd love to have the money to be on Oculus Rift VR. This is something I've waited for for years. Full immersion to the max. It will sell like hotcakes if all goes as planned. LCD sreens will no longer be needed to play games compatable with Oculus Rift. A whole new era of gaming is on it's way in. ![]()

I'd keep the kickstarter part of the deal, to build a new wwii sub simulator, but I'd spare the occulus... Main reason, one of my eyes is quite lazy so I'm no good at 3-D stuff

John Carmack addressed about the lazy eye issue on the oculus rift.
Basically he said that the 3D effect is not the most important thing in oculus rift. The real immersion comes from the wide angle screen that is surrounding you and thus makes you feel that you are in the game. The 3D thingy where stuff jumps right before your eye is "nice to have" but not necessary. I contributed to the Kickstarter mainly because i have tons of Unitys project that would hugely benefit from the device, but i hope when the real commercial version is released, then some talented hacker in subsim community will make this work with SH. (Does not have to be SH5. SH4 or SH3 GWX would do just fine) |
