Default Type II Problem

Whenever I am underwater and ask for periscope depth the conning tower breaches the surface. The boat doesn't respond to depth changes very quickly. When I manually click on the depth dial to try to lower the tower beneath the waves, it takes a very long time for this to happen. The Type II handles a lot different to a Type VII or a IX. I thought it would handle like a dream, not like a wet sponge!
Is this usual for a Type II or is it a bug with the periscope depth?

No not a bug, it happens to me too. I use the depth dial and go to about 12 meters, if you are going at slow speed this takes some time. Speed up to get your depth then slow down again.

Never suffered this problem, which is odd because I seem to have encountered every other glitch with sh3. Are you in rough seas? as your tower will breach then no matter what model.

No the seas were smooth, and I was only going at 2 nt underwater. I will speed up and see if the tower lowers quicker. Like I said before, the other types VII and IX maneuver into the depths quicker and they are only moving at 2 nts.
Any how I will try the higher speed and report back.

After testing, if I am at periscope depth and on 2 nts, the boat slowly rises until the tower is out of the water. I must use 4 nts to maintain depth. This is going to be a problem if I am under attack from above, if I am at depth, trying to sneak away silently doing 2 nts, I am slowly going to rise to the surface. This is not good. Am I over thinking this, or have I missed something?

What mods are you using? Or are you playing the stock game?

In stock you have the ability to hover so I reckon you have a mod enabled somewhere in your installation.

I am playing GWX gold with SH Commander installed. Plus many mods enabled with JSGME. Thanks for the tip.
I will disable all the mods and report back.

Rgr that...a list of installed mods would also be helpful.

I deactived all the mods except the no DVD files, and the same event happens, underwater at 2nt, the sub slowly levels out at 8m, (Tower showing) speed up and ask for peri depth the boat goes to 10m. Slow down to 2nt, up we go again!

i observe the best way to dive with type II is use manual control not use CE 'periscope depth'.
and set depth 2-3 meter below your desired depth. so if you want set 11 meter depth you set 13-14 meter. good luck!
sorry for my bad english.
