Ahoy!
I'm a long time reader here at subsim.com and herewith finally signing in.
I'm not a particular fan of WWII or simulation games, but since I played Silent Service II on my first PC, I am lost to this genre. Das Boot is probably my favourite movie and I have watched it countless of times. My U-Boot carrer was followed by Silent Hunter 2, obviously I passed the formidable Aces of the Deep which I regret to this day. Silent Hunter 3 was the first sub sim I was modding heavily, thanks to this website. After long hesitation, I'm now ready to give a modded Silent Hunter 5 a chance, we'll see how this turns out. |

Welcome aboard
Remember, sub men are patient. It takes time, like a good wine, to appreciate the game. The mods are like the icing on a cake.
WW2 not only was the biggest war so far, it also brought about the richest, quickest leap in technology. That's why I like the genre. From WW1 era steam torpedoes to pattern running, magnetic heads and acoustic ones too. From biplanes to jets. From coal fired ships to diesel. From bolt-action rifles to rockets. From morse code to radar. All this advancement in six years!!!
