Default Propeller speed in hydro station

Hi all,

Mentioned that in other forum part, but no answer

Am i alone hearing merchants propeller rotating speed in hydro not corresponding to boat speed?

It seems it's accurate for warships, but not merchants.
There are (at least) 3 differents rotating propeller sounds in SH5 for merchants, but very often they are flipped and not corresponding to the real boat speed...are they spawned random?
If i remember well, it wasn't the case in others SH

I really would like to be able to estimate myself the ennemy speed by hearing its propeller! Would be so cool and accurate

+ adding some prop sound for fishing boats would be a nice step too

Sonar in the vanilla version of the game is SO poorly executed that they must have assumed everyone would play with contacts on in low realism. The sonar station is not really needed when your contacts appear on the map, right?

I'd like to know how to get the sonar man to SHUT UP as well - once you ask him to track a target (at least in my game) asking him to return to normal sweep does not stop the verbal updates.

Yes, playing with icons and contact lines, you don't need to sit at the station...
But without contact lines...that's an other story!

You can't stop the hydro guy talking AFAIK.

Hi Fifi,

as far as I know, SH5 propeller sounds are just static; in other words, there is no way to put their rpm's in relation with ship's speeds.

But it doesn't apply for warships, or am i wrong?
It seems i can hear when they accelerate according to real boat speed

I don't know, but if warship propeller sounds are working this way, there's an hope that the same can be done for merchants
