Default I'm back - Few SH3 questions and some torpedo weirdness

Took quite a bit of time off and now I'm back enjoying SH3. Have the GWX 3.0 and Thompson's sound mods going and was out on my first patrol in 1940. Had a few questions seeing as how I feel I've forgotten everything.

- First off, any suggested mods to work together with GWX 3.0 that are new/improved/awesome?

- Is there a way to get the sound mod I have to talk in German? Everything is currently in English.

- Does GWX have the mod/feature in it where convoys start firing off starshells/turn on searchlights/fire at you if you are detected or surprised them?


I also just had a very interesting encounter. Sailing out of port, about 2 days into patrol heading up to the AL grid, we come across a lone tramp steamer with its lights out. Seing as how we're in need to some target practice to knock the rust off, we track him at night via the hydros, get ahead of him and line him up for an almost pure 90 degree shot at roughly 1800m. Here's where the weirdness occurs.

After the solution is confirmed, the magnetic pistol set and the proper depth set we launch a single electric torpedo. The torpedo runs normal, 'hits' almost dead center, obvious detonation, water shooting up high on both sides of the boat..and....

weapons officer says we missed. There's no fire, no damage, nothing. I'm thinking maybe the WO has gone senile, but then the steamer starts building speed, starts a zig zag pattern and tries to run away. How can this be?

go to the options and just select voices and text to german and hit apply

yes

as for the torpedo problem... the magnetic pistol probably detonated prematurely. my guess. but im not sure...

Awesome, thanks.

Now my only problem is that it seems for some reason, even though I have all of the officer icons showing, not all of the options for each station shows.

For example, when I go to radio/sonar I only get the send/receive reports options but don't get the option to see the messages we have received. I have to press M to see them, no other way.

Also, there is no captains station and I can only get into bed but cannot view the captains log from the bed (no click option) and no option anywhere other than pressing K or whatever the key is for it.

How do I fix this when using GWX and the mods you listed?

That has always been the only way to read messages. It's a hard-coded thing.

You don't. That's the way the game was designed. SH4 has a sort of fix where when you press the button you aren't taken to the station, but a clipboard appears in front of you no matter where you are. The clipboard comes with buttons that let you look at the different messages and logs, all the while with the bridge/control room/bunk/whatever in the background.

Not applicable to SH3, and not changable either.

I'll have to check tonight, but that happened to me when I activated some other mod after GWX and it over-wrote the same file that GWX had laid down. I either changed the load order or just edited the file to put back what GWX added and all the officer icon once again had all the choices.

As GoldenRivet answered, but also it's awesome when the doomed vessel sends off a distress flare just before it sinks.

If you haven't yet installed SH3 Commander do it!! It's a fantastic addition to the game.
