Default Actual Kaibokans for modding.

For the last month, I have been in search of a realistic looking Kaibokan for my SH4 v1.4 game. When I added TMO 1.7.6 and saw a Kaibokan listed as one of the add-on ships, I found out it was just a re-flagged American Evarts DE, although I have to admit there is enough of a resemblence for it to be better than none at all. I also saw a Kaibokan that was in another mod that left a lot to be desired, however I am the LAST person to criticize anyone else's attempts at creating a Kaibokan, realistic looking or not. At least they tried. Since I am absolutely no good at modding, I decided to provide info and specs for those that are. I have found two good sources of info on actual Kaibokans. Here is a page that shows what the most common look of a Kaibokan: www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,25065.0.html. I also am adding a Wikipedia page that lists all six types of Kaibokans used by the IJN: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaibokan. Hopefully, this info will help anyone creating / modding ships for SH4 1.4 and 1.5. Good luck!

Yes, that is the best I've seen so far. It looks like one of the earlier classes of Kaibokan, as it has just six YGuns. Probably SHIMUSU or ETOROFU class. Very good job!

Is there a downloadable mod of your kaibokan tater, or are you keeping that little beauty to yourself.

It's in RSRD. There are multiples, and the CD-C and CD-D ties are also different. The radars on all escorts change over time as well (both in behavior, and appearance). The C/D types have more throwers, too, I just don't have a pic handy.

RSRD has the kaibokans I did (early, then both C and D types), variants of the subchasers (different radars, etc visible on the masts). It also has the moving radars and gun directors for the larger ships (watch Yamato in RSRD if you ever see her, the radar sweeps, and if you surface, the gun director will point at you ). I think I bashed a mats DE as well. It;s been several years, lol.

I know what a Matsu is

The only pic I have is an early in-progress shot (again, this is from maybe 2006 or 2007, lol)

Nice Maddy. I have not played SH4 for quite sometime. Seriously, your continued work has me wanting to play again. I'm waiting for 2.0. It will be a new game for me!

Appreciate the efforts!

If you're trying to get me interested in SH4 again... it's working.
