Default Somebody Moved Mount Everest

Oops!!

Quote:
The US space agency, Nasa, has admitted it mistook a mountain in India for Mount Everest when it posted online a picture taken from space.
Nasa initially said the photo - by Russian cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko - showed the world's tallest summit.
The image was quickly picked up by a number of media outlets, but Nasa removed it after a Nepalese expert spotted the error.

Yes but given the correct coordinates they should be able to tell one from another. Isn't this the organization that worked out which mountains to avoid when landing on Mars or the Moon? They should have someone experienced at looking at mountains from above somewhere in their team.

It should be noted that the error was that someone posted the wrong picture. That does not mean that NASA is unable to determine the right location.
