Default ASUS G55VW Series

Anybody play SH5 Heavily Modded with the G55 series or G75 Series laptop can you tell me what kind of framrates youre getting? I am about to order this bad boy so I can finally get back into the swing of things and wanna know what to expect. My first order of business is Expanding my ram form 8GB to 16 since its cheap and easy to do. Next up is adding a SSD (If I can, it looks like there is only one easy to reach slot in which case Id have to replace the HDD with an SSD) Thanks!

Regards,

Casey

Not here. But looking at the Assus site I see the one they have listed for the G55 is only an i7 2.3 GHz CPU. Not ure what yours is tho. Post specs on you laptop if you would.

I'd think that 2.3 could be a bit slow for running SH5 heavily modded. Even with my i5 2.8GHz desktop I'm running on the fringe. My SH5 is kind of heavily modded but SH5 seems to run pretty good set up as I have it. Try overclocking your CPU to 3 GHz if you can. That might help more.

As for RAM I've been told that it makes no difference. 4 or 8 or 16 will all work the same. Now that was from a 'Techie' at CompUSA so that's be his opinion.... not mine. As for me I've no idea. All I can say is get good brand name matched DDR3 RAM modules.

Yeah it will. Sorry about that chief. I didn't realise yours was an i7. I assumed it was an i5 like the one on the Asus website. Just make sure you get an i7 that's running faster than 2.8. If it was me I'd get the G75 with the larger screen. You'll be glad you did.

Thing is, I need the small portability it will provide. Im in the Navy and need something that I can take with me, the 17" is nice but just doesnt provide that. Its not that its heavy its that we're only allowed so much weight on carryons and that laptop exceeds it lol stupid rules.
