Sunk Empire class freighter during southbound track to assigned grid. Two torpedoes fired, 1 hit. Heavy flooding led to port capsize and sinking within 10 minutes. Southbound for BE96.

Nice touch, ordering the removing of log pages about sinking the Spanish ship I think I've read about something like that actually happening during the war.

In real life all messages would have been done with the Enigma machine. We at one time did use the Enigma but it has a learning time that many of our group found hard. It also takes a lot of time to code and decode so we stopped using it.

Noted British naval historian Peter Padfield said in his Battle of the Atlantic that he thought it was amazing that Doenitz never really figured out that the Brits were reading his mail, but also amazing that though they were so proud of cracking Enigma but it never ocurred to them that the Germans were doing the same to them.

On the very first day of the war Fritz Lemp sank a passenger ship he thought was an auxilliary cruiser. His logs were rewritten and the crew was sworn to secrecy....art imitates life
