Windows 7 vs SHIII
Hi there, i have a new laptop with windows 7 ultimate 64-bit installed, i tried to install sh3 from an original cd, it install itself correctly but then when i double click on icon it shows a window that says that the program can only run under windows 95, xp, and other.
If i install the program in virtual machine to simulate an xp os it ends up showing me the same window ! I don't think it's a resolution problem, can some one help me ? thanks a lot. |

Try right clicking the icon, go to properties, compatability, check the box "check to run in compatability mode for" and choose windows xp. Worked on my last computer thouh i didnt have the same problem with my new computer

WELCOME ABOARD!
![]() I'm not sure if this will help with your particular problem, but on thing Windows 7 users say is that redirecting the installation to the main drive folder helps with a lot of the problems encountered. Apparently Windows 7 doesn't like anybody fiddling with Program Files.

You need to be in ProgramFiles(x86) or preferably a secondary drive as well as having performed the 'compatability' operation.

I avoided the problem by creating a new directory "GAMES" on my C drive. SH3 and any other game I have gets installed there, each in their own sub-directory.
It's also a great spot to install JSGME, Multi-SH3, and all those zipped mod files one collects.

Here is my solution (Win 7 Ultimate)
I let SH3 install where it wanted. Then using Multi SH3, I created a copy of SH3 in my secondary hard drive. After this all is well! Good luck. |

Still unable, i installed the program in a new folder called games that stay on desktop, i run the compatible stuff, tried several Os, still gettin the message....i even tried to install jsgme but i have no mod to put on there i think i need to have the program works before patching or modding.....
well i guess i have to surrender.....or no ? ![]() |

Try the dedicated win7 thread, just a few threads down from this one.
