Thursday I noticed that I was once again having problems with unwanted ads in texts all over my online stuff, especially Subsim. I used a removal program to get rid of it. Unfortunately when I used the deep cleaner that comes with it, it somehow tried to delete the whole registry. It now won't load up. I took it to an expert, but he said I would have to reinstall windows, and that would take the disc. I went to my storage but couldn't find it, so now I'm at the library buying a copy of XP, used, for $30. I also notice the same ad links on the library's computer, so trying to get rid of it may have been a waste in the first place.
Now I'm offline for several more days, except maybe one hour per day, and I can't even use my computer locally. No work, no play, no TV, nothing. Since I don't have any kind of a social life it looks like I'll be doing a lot of reading, and a lot of guitar playing, and a lot of bicycling. That's the only good news: After months of fretting over trying to fix my ailing free hub I found out that a new one only costs $12.50 online. Another six bucks for a special tool and I should have it installed for about 15 minutes of work. ![]()
