Default GWX on STEAM SH3 (new problem)

Hello guys,

I've been scouring the forums for an answer to my question, but alas no luck.

I recently downloaded SH3 on steam and have been playing away. I fancied "upgrading" to the GWX 3.0 GOLD. So I re-install SH3, download the GWX 3.0 GOLD and off I go. However, while trying to install GWX 3.0 GOLD it INSISTS that I have a modded version of SH3 (I don't). I open the game to check that the steam version is V1.4 (which it is). I have never modded SH3 and in any case I re-installed the game today to ensure a clean platform for the GWX 3.0 GOLD mod.

What do I do? Is there a way of "unmodding" my anyway unmodded steam version?

Please help!

Jonathan

When you try to install GWX3, make sure the installer is pointed to your game installation which will be somewhere inside your Steam folder.

IIRC correctly the installer points to the default installation location you would get if you installed SH3 without Steam, from a disk or download purchased elsewhere, i.e. C:\Programs\Ubisoft\... etc. It won't know that your game is installed somewhere else so you will have to use the Browse or Change Folder button or whatever it's called there, to point it to your SH3 folder.

Default That was MY problem

I felt stupid, but that was indeed the problem.

Your game is somewhere like:

c/programs(*86)/steam/steamApps/common/Silent Hunter

Choose "browse" at the initial install screen and direct it to your game and it will work.

I'm using Win7 and I've got about 8 mods from here running. They all run fine. I'd be interested to know if you get OLC mod to run. It caused a graphics snafu on my machine.

I activated MaGUI and it works like a charm!!

It won't hurt you to read it.

it will hurt my brain lol.

i am trying to but i wish there was a fast track version. i mean some of the detail in it is brilliant! hats off to the GWX crew for putting in all those scripted events and real life info behind it all into the manual. it all looks like a thesis with references everywhere

And that's why I felt I owed it to them to read it.

But no, you can start your mod soup without reading it fully.

already have started a DID career and managed to spot hood, renown and repulse off scotland just before the war started. although the weather is awful and i cant keep up with them. does GWX change the wave height? because i am constantly going underwater which is quite annoying

is that aimed at me? i think you already welcomed me before lmao still nevers hurts to say it twice ty.

update on that sighting i lost the home fleet, far to fast for me at 18 knots, so i went back towards scapa in hope i would catch them returning, instead they beamed back and set sail again without me knowing(only 1 repulse this time), managed to sink the hood and a single repulse and am now ordered to patrol in between iceland and greenland (i like the new message updates, makes simple patrols much more interesting than stock)
