Friends, in the Silent Hunter 5 no chance your crew does not get hurt or killed because only the character icon turns red but the game still leaves use the character's skills.

What crew? You have five or six officers and specialists, who don't do what the real officers did, and no other crew at all.
There are many things about SH5 that are not realsitic.

Don't get me wrong. There are many things that are unrealistic about SH3 and SH4 as well. I was trying to be honest, not judgemental. I still think SH5 has more potential than all the others. It just hasn't fulfilled it yet.

I'm running OHII in my SH5 install and I do have injured men, who will not do as ordered. No they do not die, but they also get no medial treatment until we return to our home port.
