Heading home on I-68, I noticed a car doing the 'weave-into-others lanes' thing ahead of me.
I watched this driver for several minutes before I started around them. As I did so they did what I expected. They crossed into my lane and nearly side swiped me. My passanger nearly freaked because I did not give an inch (although I was on full alert, aware of the other traffic around us both, and ready to avoid any collision) The other driver, seeing me at the last moment, avoided the possible impact. She was so Thankful of my reminder that We need to stay safe on the roads that she put her cell phone down and gave me the One Finger Salute. ![]() I'll bet I'm still the 'Arse from Ohio' in her conversations today. ![]() |

Kinda reminds me of a car trip I took to a firing range in Texas once...the driver was non impressed with the leader of the convoy

One thing I learned from years of driving in california, as people go, it's all about me. This "all about me" thing can be broken down into 3 basic rules of what to expect from peoples behavior:
1.) Me first. 2.) Not in front of me. 3.) I'm special. Every assine thing people can do on the road can be attributed to one of these 3 "rules of behavior". Unfortunately, the drivers in Utah, aren't any different. Much to my surprise, and disappointment. In fact, they may be worse, because in California the limiting factor on these 3 "rules of behavior" is the threat of being shot at. Freeway shootings are not unheard of in California, and at one point in time, even common. In Utah, no such threat exists, so people are more blatant and rude whilst on the road. Naturally their behavior does a 180 when not behind the wheel. My wife attributes Utah driving to sexual frustration. |

Dont you just love drivers like that? I generally get out of their way and watch them make a complete idiot of themselves. And 90% of the time I pass them back anyway when their lane slows down while mine remains at a constant speed.

I dream of buying a cheap car, reinforcing all around and just sticking to my lane, particularly around roundabouts. I already do to some extent, you can tell pretty much which cars are going to be less attentive.
I must be number 2. ![]()

Cellular devices and autos do not mix. My latest was a guy stopped at a red light. Our left turn lane was given headway by the green turn arrows. Bonehead on his cell phone in the opposing lane to continue straight decides since some cars are moving it is ok for him. If I was not paying attention there would be bent metal and plastic everywhere. As I use my horn to good effect the guy with the phone to his ear is looking at me as he drives by like I was doing something wrong. The idiot did even take the phone away from his ear. People can be incredibly stupid behind the wheel of a machine that used incorrectly can kill.

One day I hope to win a lottery so I can duplicate W. C. Fileds' solution to "road hogs" (from the film "If I Had A Million"):
Part 1 Part 2 ...
