Default German solar panel electricity strikes record

Kind of a surprise to me and many others: it is reported in German newspapers that today, over the noon hours, the electricty production from solar panels in Germany equalled the power output of 22 nuclear reactors, and was sufficient to make Germany for these hours a 100% solar electricity-only country.

The total is said to set the highest mark amongst all nations using solar panels.

This comes in a time when there are heavy lobby fights about planned cuts to solar panel subsidies. I cannot say if the two things are related, maybe.

It is also said that the German powergrid struggled with this record maximum production of photovoltaic electricity.

In Germany, over the noontime of the day electricity demand is the highest in all day.
