Is this game worth buying? Have seen a lot of bad press.

A quick look at the front page of this forum will reveal a great many threads all attesting to the current high quality of the game at this point. Yes, it is well worth buying, especially considering the almost nonexistant price ($5 on Amazon for the disc).

c'mon now, you can buy it for next to nuthing now so its understandable after the condition it was released in but at the price it sells at now, how do you even need to ask lol

it needs a lot of mods so be patient but there are mega mods being fine tuned to replace the 30+ mods most people feel the need to use

Steam has a gold edition out right now for about 14 bux. Im thinking about purchasing from them .Will I still be able to use mods with this version?

The Gold edition comes with some of the extra ships that you had to unlock with the original. That's it. If you want to pay three times the price for it that you would for the disc on Amazon, go for it. It won't affect mods at all.

it won't affect the mods, but with the steam version you will not be able to patch the .exe file with TDW's patch......
