Decided to not return to port so I could catch the big battles in the Guadalcanal Campaign.I was around for the Savo Island debacle, then returned to port.Launched on September 19, 1942, patroled the Slot, missed the Cape Esperance battle but then made it on scene and encountered the IJN carrier force about 0920, as I was setting up to attack, US carrier planes arrived and attacked, the Task Force zigged leaving me 7000 yards out in right field, so I was relegated to watching the carrier planes wreak havoc, it was fun.

Some impressive damage to the Shokaku from 3 SBD dive bombers that scored hits in succession,she did not sink but left her flight deck ruined.Pretty much as it happened in real life, interesting how that occurs sometimes.
