Default Battle of Surigao Streight issues with Mods

Ok, so this is more of a complaint than a patrol log, but here goes.

Im running 1.5 w/ RSRDC and TMO and i was out on my 15th war patrol of the war under these mods and decided i wanted to see what this huge surface battle looked like. I arrived at the location at the right time (historically) and low and behold, a MASSIVE number of american ships appeared, almost to a T the actual composition of forces. Waiting around the japs showed up also and the battle ensued with myself in the middle...which was fun cause every time i went to periscope depth the japanese destroyers would come a churning in at 30 knots only to get blown to peices by the massive american formation....now....ONLY the destoryers were destroyed. The japanese fleet consisted 2 Fuso battleships, 2 Mogami heavy cruisers (i sunk 1 mogami and 1 naka on their journey in) and a handful of destroyers (9-12 or so)....the americans had 8 bb, 8-10 CA/CL and around 30-40 destroyers....guess who won? the japanese....even after i lured all destroyer escorts into the trap and had them destroyed by friendlies all that was left were the 2 bb and 2 ca of the japanese fleet and they destroyed EVERY american ship....the only damage they seemed to have sustained was that they were all stationary (after slowing considerably then stopping altogether, thus i assume engine room damage), though I visually saw them take THOUSANDS of ship to ship shells and even saw 10-20 american aircraft bomb and hit these ships.
All in all it was a beautiful battle to watch, but i was left dumbstruck at the horrendous losses the US fleet took (it was TOTALLY ANHILATED!!)

Now a thought popped into my head, I know trigger maru made the japanese fleet ships tougher for user gameplay reasons, but i dont think he went into the american ships and updated their specs as well.

How would I check this and/or modify them on my own if i find a disparity?

thanx ahead of time.

I don't know the answer, but your post is very interesting.

I'm only guessing here, but writing the codes for dates, routes, battles, formations and even the winner, is one thing. Coding an itemization of shell for shell hits in a historical battle is not only another thing altogether, it's a little too much to expect. If the IJN was prevented from passing through the strait, it's still a strategic victory for the USN.

I don't want to mess with the coding. I was thinking more along the lines of beefing the damage models of the allied ships like they have been for the IJN
