Default No Hellcats mission..?

I searched the forums .. not found. For those of you unfamiliar, you can check out a book of the same name from your local library. At first, i thought they were talking about the *airplane* called Hellcat. Nope .. it was a group of i think 8 WWII subs that were sent on a *super secret* mission to infiltrate the Sea of Japan towards the end of WWII .. to give the Japs one last good thumping. It's a great page-turner story.

Anyone of you awesome bit-heads up for designing the "Hellcats" mission..?

Thanks all for being here .. great meetin' place for us SubSim fanatics. I was in surface sonar in the USN during the Vietnam era. Got to ride a WWII sub for about half a day during my A-school training in Key West. *Very* interesting first hand referential experience. And those guys eat like kings! Lobster tail, french toast .. man! I wanted to be in the sub service but they told me i was too tall. Bummer.

Thanks for this great meetin' place for all us SubSim fanatics.

Theres a patrol in the stock game thats called hellcats, and you go into the sea of japan, its just your the only sub due to AI limitations. Ive never tried it before peronally.

As stated, the problem is AI subs, simply don't work in the game as they should. You could make a workable US class sub roam the seas, but it would remain surfaced or you might could spawn them dived, but if they're not modded to be manned they just sink, maybe even the AI manned ones sink.

Yea unfortunately missions like this are not quite realistic due to lack of some key things. One being FM sonar for navigating the entrances, two being lack of AI US subs. Also never had decent traffic or patrols in the SOJ as should be.

As Soviet Creeper mentioned, you can play the handicap version, but just be aware that one of those 8 subs failed to return. That means you have a 1 in 8 chance of meeting Davy Jones.
