Default YEP!!! Playing this again!! what fixes needed??

So yea, after trying SH5 and others, SHIII is the best

I installed SHIII 1.4 and GWX gold expansion

How do I install the resolution fix? that one that you just drag those files into the folder and double click the fix thing, didn't seem to do anything!

What are some other must have mods ontop of the GWX gold ??

Thanks!
Glad to be back!

Go to main menu, options and change text language to English.

...hi fastfed - glad your back !

could you tell me what you thought about SH5?

cant help with techno stuff, sorry.

my son had his friend over this weekend and we showed him the SH3+GWX experience.
you'll be glad to know he is mythering his parents for me to come over to his and install it all for him on his system, he's 10 years old. i think he has been swept away with it.
we were on naval academy 'torpedo' school and we travelled with the eels under water to their explosive finish - he was so impressed you could actually do that. we blew up the medium tanker travelling at 2knots and sat back and watched it burn and sink - he loved it.

then, just before we set off to take him home we had 1/2 hour of Das Boot to watch - he loved that too!!

Well.. For a younger person I think SH5 might be great.. It was designed for younger people IMO.

Its got the pretty graphics and FPS feel to it.. After all you're the captain and can move him around as if you are really him.

SH5 doesn't have the dark feeling to it, SH3 does, it might be a little much for someone 10 years old, but sh5 will give him the idea of commanding a u-boat and still have fun.

SH3GWX is more technical, it doesn't have the graphics and no real first person movement, but you feel like you're really in the sub as SH5 does not have that.

As for the messages, its still in German and yes I did make sure its set for english, something is wrong.

Also, how do I stop the messages from coming up every 5 seconds.. Its annoying !! It keeps slowing down my time compression

I'm using SH3 commander and set everything to max.

Any thoughts?
THANKS

Go into your ShIII folder and follow these instructions:

1. Go to data --> Cfg --> Open "Main" in Notepad

2. 2nd cluster is labelled [Time Compression]

As an example:

EnemyDetected=1 means that on detection of ships the TC will immediately be set to 1.

You want to alter EnemyDetected, AirEnemyDetected. and Radio Report to whatever you desire (1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024)

This mod works for me. WB's Mission Orders Lite. Reduces the number of messages. Hardly any messages concern you anyway. They are just for effect. I couldn't play without this mod.

Hi shipmate. To get the resfix working open the d3d9.cfg file with notepad. Scroll to the section that looks like this :

[config]
; ResX: Horizontal resolution setting
; ResY: Vertical resolution setting
; useFiltering: Use linear filtering for UI elements
; enableScreenshots: Hook printscreen keypress to save TGA screenshot
resX=1920
resY=1200
useFiltering=1
enableScreenshots=1
screenshotPath=D:\SH3 SHots

Now simply change:

resX=
resY=

to your screen resolution then save. Now simply re click the SP2 Res fix file and voilla.

Hope that helps mate

Best regards.

It didn't

Thanks anyway..

I followed exactly what you said..

Still that horrible ugly rez.

I did try it with that widescreen fix you enable with Jsme and it worked on that, but had terrible tearing..

Forget.. I think I remember now why I stopped playing this one

The mods are out of control and confusing

Yep you can use SH3commander with LSH
Comes with its own cfg files for commander ( also needed for GWX )

RE your no ships problem in GWX
What campaign files do you have in ?

I dunno..

I love GWX but the 15 minutes I've been trying out living SHIII its AMAZING! to say the least!

I'm gonna stick with this mod for a while.

Seems really good..

Where can I read about the other mods I can add? It has a lot and I have no clue what is what..

thanks

In the SilentHunterIII folder should be a LSHv5 folder
Documentation in there - both German and English
Also they have a pretty good website with lots of info and indeed a sticky thread here in the mods section

You should check out the Merchant Fleet Mod, it's really nice.

Also, the dark, 3D smoke is nice too.
