Default Newbie needs help!

Hello I am new to DW.

I am asking if there is some kind of good tutorials and guides that i can download that can get me quickly get started....I am bit discouraged of reading 500 pages of manual just to get started..all i want for now is some basic..some quick tutorials for ships and subs. You know I want just blow something up with rocket and if I like it maybe i will read all manual!

At the top of my hat, you can find some important info from here:

http://www.commanders-academy.com/fo...hp?do=cat&id=7

http://www.subguru.com

But honestly, DW isn't about lobbing rockets or torpedos on target for instant gratification. It's all about using the technology to find, identify, track and finaly persecute the target. Or not!!! If the rules of engagement don't allow you to. This is a patience and stalking game, not a FPS.

The game manual tells you "what" those buttons do, but not "when" to press them. That's where the documents of the above links come in. But you can't do without the manual. Atleast not the sections related to the vessel or helo you are playing in. You don't have to read the entire manual all at once.

Agree with Pisces. As someone else who just bought DW, I gotta say there's just no way around not reading the manual. I've read it in chunks when I can and I try to apply what I read to some of the easier missions in the sim. Commanders Academy and Subguru are also excellent resources. Good luck!

Thank you on links. Yeah I dont like FPS but my point is that for beginner for starter it is just too much to read. What I am trying to say hear that first you need to atract someons attention than if somebody really get into it than he will play on harder settings and he will read manual...I think this game mybe lacks some tutorial missions and maybe more options about realsim setting...5 years ago I have instaled Microsoft Flight Simulator the situation was same just that FS had more realsim settings and it has fligt school where step by step it gets you in air in few days...the stock planes that comes with FS are how to say like if they are creatde for newbies they are not 100% simulated only basic...so after i really got into flying I have felt that i should put realism on 100% and downlaod some famous addons like PMDG 747,737, MD11 etc. Those addons are simulating planes more than 90% i think and things are much more complicated. In conclusion here you have to much info to process for beginner...and without that info I feel that i am not effective without it...

Dangerous Waters is not about "blowing stuff up", per se. It is meant to be a modern naval tactical simulator...as best as can be expected on the open market, that is. Many of the canned missions are more about reconnaissance, evasion and SF insertion than anything. Don't get me wrong, there are MORE than enough missions of blowing stuff up, but that is not the primary goal. A firefight, in many of the missions is the last thing you want to get into because dodging torpedoes is quite challenging and if you are in any sub, one hit is all it takes. In a lot of the missions, counterdetection is considered mission failure despite not having a "game over" script for it.

DW requires a different mindset that other naval sims, especially SH. Of course, if you just want to blow stuff up, spam the Kilo Demo mission. It is a great stress release.

Anyway I am getting used to this game and I am making progress in a way that now i know somthing about tma and i can understand what is my sonar displaying and i can finfs contacts and id them....so i was litle playing quick missions and got my self in LA class improved i thing so...find some RU contact and decide to attack him (orders from HQ) so got nice tma work done and fire wire guided torp and he is going to 10ft depth he locks on the target and topr goes under him...i dont understand what is the minum torp depth i menaged to put it only to 10ft not lower...so second try with ant ship missile...i put wide search or something like that wide search band i think another option is narrow.....i set seeker range to 6 nm but his one goes just behind ship....and for some reson didnt lock on him...I mean should missile home him self to target....and that seeker range if i put it to 0 does that mean that will start looking for target after lounch??btw the RU ship name was something with begining R i odnt remeber full name but i know that was big and was looking to like tanker...
