I dont know what are the cause for the CTDs right after loading a save game, my "mod soup" dont seems to be the trouble, running TMO + RSRD for a while now, its just some saves work, some dont...100% workaround is to finish a patrol and save in harbor, i can live with that...
But yesterday it really hit me in the guts...after 2 weeks of playing and only seen/sunk warships were DDs and below and 2 Takaos, (both solo, one sunk, other was in ****ty position) i finally made contact with a TF in the Solomons for the very first time, i saved then i sneaked into perfect shooting position on shokaku carrier 1.5km away, prepared full 6 torp salvo, fired, waited, HIT....CTD! That was the very first CTD besides with save games..i thought: " ok lets hope the save works", it did and i tried again, same target, other side full 6 salvo...CTD even before first torp hit ![]() I reproduced this several times, with other angles, distance, even just using a single torp only ![]() I must say i really enjoyed driving SS-210 Grenadier so far and finally had surface radar on this 3rd Patrol but this really killed it for me... So im gonna play a new career with slight different mod soup and directly play Gato from april 42 SS-230 Finback Doing so i noticed my HD was full ![]() Now im curious if this happens again if i have the luck of finding another carrier...took me 2 weeks, will keep you posted! Im sorry that my first feedback on TMO isnt a positive one, but those issues aside i really love it...i was there when the marines landed on lunga point, guadalcanal! |

If your system has more than 2gigs of ram, try to install the 4gig patch in the D/L section. This utility allows SH4 and other programs to use more than 2gigs of memory. Solved alot of CTD's for alot of folks, including myself. Rule out possible other causes first, such as "Mod Soup", ect.., then give the patch a try.

it will also help to defrag your system and before you play run a disk clean and internet options to "delete" unnecessary files.
this clears as much memorry as possible so when playing you dont run out. the computer only has a certain amount of space used for "temporary" memory storage and this is what you are saving when you do a game save so a long period of playing without saving can fill your temporary memory to capacity especially if its already half full with web page history and other BS from normal online activity. when you run out of memory space it drops old info as new info is stored making saves be corrupted because they are "incomplete" with missing data. NOTE: this kind of thing is only a problem if you dont have a lot of memory |

I've had CTD's periodically from running time compression faster than my system can handle. You can tell if the clock hands get jerky instead of rotating smoothly. It's fine until the game needs a lot of data suddenly, like when approaching Pearl Harbor, then CRASH. I agree with the other posters, it's likely a memory problem- some sort of data overload.

After defragging my HD+ deleting unnecessary stuff as mentioned here, i dont had a single CTD from saves so far...
I have 4gb of RAM so i ll give this patch a try...just sucks to finally find a carrier group and not able to do anything :P The old saves wont work, for i use other mod combination now, so i cant test if it solves the issue...need to find a TF again...or just do a single mission^^ |
