Ride to orbit

Anyone fancy tagging along on the solid rocket boosters from the space shuttle on its way into orbit?

Great 8 minute video if you've got the time.

I took the time (you kind of get suckered in). That is just too cool for words! But of course words come anyway. I loved seeing the other booster, especially when it splashed down in the distance. And the sounds! Seven minutes of ultimate real thrill!

The raw power and that sound. Spooky cool. At 3:40 lower right corner it looks like vapor trail from liftoff. Awesome.

Amazing video, thanks for sharing. I thought I saw the liftoff vapor trail aswell. Also - the 2 occurances of heavy buffeting and shockwave were the sound barrier?

That would be my guess. They happened right around 750 mph, and that's close enough to convince me.
