Default AI U-Boats

This subject has come up before BUT I am amazed ... in heavy seas I came upon a striken cargo vessel whose bow was eating the seas ... hmmm, usually a sign of a breached hull taking on water. As I got closer flames broke out and she sunk .. ok, must have been hit by another U-Boat and it was a immersion thing as I thought AI U-boats do not fire torpedoes .. so I thought.

I continued on my course and darn if I come across another U-Boat and I investigate. Cool. She was heading into the Gibraltor zone as I headed up the coast back to my base ...

So! Do AI subs actually engage? The year is late 1942. Never seen anything like this so far - have seen striken ships but always figured other reasons like collisions, or plain immersion ...

Most ships you find burning in bad weather are just that - burning because of the weather. Because of the hitpoint system used in SH3, any ship that is in trouble will catch on fire, even if it's from a storm. This happens even in the stock game, where there are no AI u-boats.

Be nice if AI subs would attack with torpedos

Yes, I recall that storms could damage a ship. Often to there are damaged stragglers in a convoy (so it must be weather or aircarft damage?) and the sub I found leaving the area of this striken ship was then just a pure coincidence eh? The AI subs cannot use their deck guns?

(I did throw a sending line and he passed sausages and I sent him fresh fruit LOL).

PS: forgot the KEY to walking about the interior of the sub????? duh! anyone?

AI Subs are nothing more then Surface Units.
So, YES, they do use the deck guns.

There's no need to be snarky. If you saw a sub he probably did attack something, and yes they use their deck guns. In fact, that's all they can use. What I said still stands. I've seen a great many burning ships in storms, and this was before GWX even existed.

Snarky? How did you come up with that?? I am truly perplexed!!! I am a 63 year old man who does not understand the forum speak protocols so I guess I need to stick smiley things on innocent comments. I was simply commenting on the sub I found wonderfully delightful as I never experienced it before!

Default walking about key

I forgot the keys to click to walk about the sub interior - must be getting alzheimers as I put my wallet in the Freezer the other day.

Can anyone advise me? Snow day so I plan to put a bunch of hours into my patrol ... need to stretch my legs!

Hi Pappy. Glad to know I'm not the only one who does stuff like that.

Shift+f2 is what you are looking for.

Sounded like a challenge to me. Sorry if I got it wrong. I'm a mere young pup of 61.

Makes you sound Canadian, That's how we do it sometimes...you know, like Bob and Doug MacKenzie. Its hard to perceive when its written down without our strange emphasis on "eh" but we often use it to add more emphasis to a statement, or to turn it into into a question, or to elicit a response. It drives foreigners crazy, they can't tell which.

Then you know what I'm talking about. One of our particular Canadianisms in the use of the English language like hoser or take off!

Don't you dare! I apologized, didn't I? I'll apologize again. I get cranky sometimes.
