Default Mod for waves / sea / wind sounds

Hi

I have the following mods:

Accurate German Flags
Capthelms SH5 Audio Mod
IRAI_0_0_30_ByTheDarkWraith
Equip_Upgrades_Fix_1_4_AFFOE_151
SteelViking's Interior Mod V1.2
FX_Update_0_0_19_ByTheDarkWraith
Dynamic Environment SH5 Sounds V2.1
Dynamic Environment SH5 Basemod (normal ) V2.1
Stormys DBSM SH5 v1.3 optional louder engine sounds
NewUIs_TDC_6_9_0_ByTheDarkWraith
OPEN HORIZONS II_full v1.6
TDW_Mines_Subnets_Detectable_in_hydro (OH II v1.6)
Better Torpedo Graphics
Torpedo_Speed_Abilitie_Fix_for_TDC_SH5_v120

A couple of these mods include new sounds that do waves and wind, but, they seem to be connected to the engine volume. If I stop the engines, then the sound of the sea, wind and wave stops. And at slow speed it's too quiet.

I find this greatly detracts from the feeling of immersion in the environment.

Is there a mod that works these sounds independantly of the engine rpm?
It would be great if I could stop the engines during a storm and still hear the waves bashing around, and the wind whistling and flapping around.

Jason

If I put dynamic environment afer Stormy's base mod, dynamic environment overlaps many sounds including wave sounds. You sure about this...

Also not sure I want DBSM base - it changes too much (keyboard) and requires other mods, and for some reason and causes CTD on my set up.

You can remove parts of the DBSM 1.3 MOD such as Key Mappings and Scripts without breaking the MOD itself.
You always have your ariginal archive download of the MOD as backup.

You have a very nice system to play with, but iam not shure if SH5.EXE is "large address aware" by default (means SH5 tell the OS that it is able to use more than 2GB of ram). Do a search for the 4GB patch to make shure SH5 can benefit from your system.

Another reason for CTD`s could be not installing the required mods infront of SDBSM.

The readme can help you how to customize the keyboard and not loosing its SDBSM sound features connected to it.

Creating SDBSM was much work and took much time tuning it, it would be nice if more users find some spare time to customize it for their needs.

Thanks for the responses.

Stormfly, I already applied the 2GB patch.

I did in fact install your DBSM base earlier and I really like the new sounds. I'll certainly give it another go.

The CTD was probably because I didn't install the pre-required mods. And this is where I need some help. I found it a bit tricky to follow the notes, for example, I'm not really sure which part of the Mighty Fine Crew Mod I need, and whether the Crash Dive is required. I don't want to use the crash dive fix because sometimes when I'm on the surface, I use the depth gauge to set the depth to 8 or 9 metres, to set the decks awash. The crash dive gauge would prevent my doing that.

Also, is it correct to install dynamic enviroments after the DBSM base? Won't that change the waves / wind sound? After all, that is what I was after. I really would appreciate some help with mod order. Pascal4541 pointed me to a post, but I got a thread with 51 pages - rather a lot to wade through and not really sure which one I'm looking for.

If I keep the standard Sh5 keyboard, will all your sounds still work?

Cheers
/Jason

Hi Jason
Yes, because I could not find the correct order to install your mods
example in my personal opinion:
Accurate German Flags
SteelViking's Interior Mod V1.2
Dynamic Environment SH5 Basemod (normal ) V2.1
FX_Update_0_0_19_ByTheDarkWraith
IRAI_0_0_30_ByTheDarkWraith
NewUIs_TDC_6_9_0_ByTheDarkWraith
Stormys DBSM 1.3 Basemod
Stormys DBSM SH5 v1.3 optional scary creaks
Stormys DBSM SH5 v1.3 additional crew sounds beta6
OPEN HORIZONS II_full v1.6
TDW_Mines_Subnets_Detectable_in_hydro
Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_byTheBeast
Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_Patch_1

Well, it all seems to be running ok now. Sailor Steve helped me out also, with a couple of mods that were incorrect, but the list is basically the same. I also changed the keyboard commands as Beast suggested, although I haven't done anything with Stormy's scripts yet.

At the moment it seems to be working very well, and the DBSM 1.3 sounds are just perfect!

Thank you all, for your help!

Just for future reference, it is - if you use the 4gig tool on SH5.exe the box should show up already ticked. Afaik the 4gig patcher is only useful for 32 bit OS.

I couldn't play SH5 without Stormy's DBSM. I've just switched the game off from a howling thunderstorm in the Atlantic, and the sound was glorious. That man deserves a medal
