Game map VS Editor map?

I'm in the Arctic Ocean and tracking PQ17 (GWX) with the Mission Editor...in other words, I'm cheating big time

. The convoy has been attacked by the Luftwaffe and all the escorts have scattered for home...leaving a very big convoy defenseless. The merchants are just East of Bareninseln and heading ENE towards Hopen island.

The problem I'm running into is the difference in the 2 "rulers"...the SH3 game map shows the distance from Bareninsel to Hopen as 712 km and the ME map gives the distance as 374 km??

What gives?

I don't know how you did it, but my mission editor just gives 720-odd kilometers between them using the ruler tool.

[EDIT] About the same in the game map.

Very strange...what is the distance if you use the "ruler" tool in the in-game navigation map, Pisces?

I think I've figured it out. The ME ruler seems to give the distance from the center of the ruler to one end. If you double the distance shown in the text of the ME radius ruler, you get pretty close?

At least, that is what I think is happening?

I did the division on your numbers also (seems to be 1 to 1.9). I wondered if it was somehow km vs. nautical mile ratio. Or perhaps something weird with widescreen aspect ratio (16:9 or 16:10). But the latter ratios are less than 1.9.

Nope on the middle- of-the-ruler idea, in my case both maps were measured end to end, 720 km give or take a few km. (because of inaccurate placement of the ends at lower map-zoom)
