im playing stock campaign. i have the reduced tonnage mod. so i need to sink 25000 tons on the eastern british coast. i have sunk 47000 so far but 3/4 of it was outside the line. i take it you have to be inside the line for the tonnage to count ???

not in every case but in most cases yes if your outside the lines of the designated area then it doesnt count. in this case the way you describe it sounds like it does matter where you, but more importantly the ship you sink, are at.
even just being on the line your never sure how the game will read it, so when in doubt assume it wont count |

Hm... i was sunking ships quite far to east from line (100 km for sure) and it counted. But may be one of Magnum Opus mods affected on this... don't really know
